We’re incredibly proud to share that our Design Engineer, Tom, has not only successfully passed his Level 3 Toolmaking qualification, but has now taken the next step in his development by signing up for a 2-year Level 4 HNC Apprenticeship through our training provider, In-Comm Training Services.
Tom has been a fantastic employee and, over his time with us, has shown tremendous growth in both knowledge and practical skill. He is certainly starting to make a name for himself here at Phoenix, particularly within our Design Office:
A huge part of Tom’s development has come from working alongside our very own Design Guru, Dave, who has been teaching him the trade and passing on many years of valuable experience and knowledge.
And the commitment doesn’t stop there…
Tom and Dave also dedicate one training day every month at the weekend, giving Tom the opportunity to absorb even more knowledge, ask questions and develop his skills without the usual interruptions of a busy working environment. That level of commitment from both of them really deserves recognition.
We wish Tom every success as he begins this next stage of his education. We’re looking forward to watching him continue to develop, achieve more and become an even stronger part of the Phoenix team.
For us, apprenticeships like Tom’s are incredibly important:
The UK engineering and manufacturing industry needs to continue investing in skills, knowledge and the next generation of engineers. At a time when there are real concerns around the erosion of engineering skills and experience in the UK, we believe bringing apprentices through, giving them proper training and pairing them with experienced people is a hugely positive investment in the future of UK manufacturing.
Keep learning. Keep developing. Keep passing on the knowledge.
Well done, Tom — and well done, Dave.
Here’s to the next two years and everything that comes after!
